Disclaimer: These stories are shared with permission from my mentees. Each of them kindly allowed me to share their journey to inspire others who are navigating the same job search challenges.
When Emmy arrived in Australia, she set one goal for herself: find a role that aligned with her passion, not just something to pay the bills. And in less than six months, she did exactly that.
She landed a Talent Coordinator position at a creative agency in Brisbane. Because she’s still studying, the company offered her a flexible freelance contract — something rare for international students.
Within just one week, she was already leading her first campaign, and after three weeks, she received a promotion offer to Talent Manager.

Before that, Emmy had completed a Marketing internship at a software company in Melbourne. When it ended, she applied what she’d learned in our sessions — rebuilding her CV, optimising her LinkedIn profile, and tailoring her applications — which quickly helped her land this full-time opportunity.
She later told me:
“Having a strong, tailored CV and LinkedIn profile made all the difference. I didn’t realise how much it mattered until I started getting interviews right away.”
Watching Emmy grow from a student unsure of her path to a confident young professional leading projects in the creative industry makes me so proud. She’s proof that when you prepare early and believe in yourself, incredible things can happen — even in your first year in Australia. 🌻
