TN - Data Engineer at a Leading Tech Group in Vietnam

When TN reached out to me in November 2024, he had just graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science (major in Data Science) two months earlier. He had already applied to nearly 100 jobs over 4–5 months but struggled to pass the CV screening stage.
Like many fresh graduates on the 485 visa, he was under growing pressure - the clock was ticking, but job offers weren’t coming. TN’s goal was to land a role as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Software Engineer, but he needed a breakthrough.
After reviewing his profile, I helped him rewrite and optimise his CV and coached him on how to search and apply for roles strategically. Very quickly, his results changed - he began passing more screening rounds and receiving multiple interview invitations.
💬 Here’s how his job journey unfolded over the following months:
He received interview calls from five companies, progressing to the final round with one that even reached the salary negotiation stage.
Each time, we prepared together through detailed mock interviews and review sessions. Although the final offer went to a candidate with more experience, his improvement was evident.
In a highly competitive job market where even mid-level professionals are applying for junior roles, TN continued to stay consistent and focused.
✨ And then came a turning point.While continuing his applications in Australia, TN also applied for a few roles in Vietnam and soon after, he received an offer for a Data Engineer position at Company C, one of the country’s leading tech corporations.
Although he had hoped to start his career in Australia, the role in Vietnam offered an incredible opportunity to build strong technical foundations and hands-on project experience. After careful consideration, TN decided to accept the offer and return to Vietnam, a strategic choice for his long-term growth.
🏆 Today, he’s working on a major data platform project, building it from the ground up and learning new technologies every day. He’s gained confidence in every part of the job application process from tailoring his CV to acing technical and behavioural interviews.
I’m incredibly proud of how far he’s come. TN’s story is a powerful reminder that success doesn’t always mean staying in one place - it’s about choosing the path that helps you learn, grow, and move forward.
